Travel Vaccinations

Wallingbrook Health Group is able to offer specific vaccinations for your travel requirements, which are free on the NHS. We can give the following vaccinations subject to availability – tetanus, diphtheria and polio combined vaccine, hepatitis A and typhoid. We will ask you to help us by letting us know if you require these vaccinations for your trip abroad. Please visit website www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk

For those patients without internet access, please let the patient service team know so that they can print off the relevant information for you. If you require any of the above vaccinations please make an appointment with the practice nurse.

We no longer prescribe malaria prophylactic tablets. These can be obtained through the private travel clinics, larger supermarkets with pharmacies e.g. Tesco. For any other vaccinations you need, that are not available on the NHS, you will be asked to make other arrangements. To help you we have a list of private travel clinics you can access below.

European Health Insurance Card

The old E111 paper form has been substituted with the new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Your EHIC lets you get state healthcare at a reduced cost or sometimes for free, in all European Economic Area (EEA). It will cover you for treatment that is needed to allow you to continue your stay until your planned return. It also covers you for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions and for routine maternity care, as long as you’re not going abroad to give birth.

It is advisable for all UK residents travelling abroad to carry these cards. It should be ensured before every trip that the card is valid. EHIC is valid for up to five years.

Apply for your FREE EHIC card at this website: https://www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance-card
