Retirement of Dr Diana Wielink

As many of you may be aware, Dr Wielink has been off work since April 2018 due to a serious illness.   It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Dr Wielink has decided to retire from Wallingbrook, earlier than planned, due to her on-going health issues.

Dr Wielink joined Chulmleigh Health Centre in 1994 and has seen the group through many changes. Over the last 24 years Dr Wielink has made an immense contribution to the practice; she has been passionate about rural healthcare and instrumental in shaping and expanding the service, including the opening of the new practice in 2003. Dr Wielink has always been a true patient advocate and we know her patients will be devastated with this news.

We all send her our very best wishes for the future and that she takes this time to rest and recover.

We will be reallocating Dr Wielink’s patient list over the next month.

Please DO NOT ring up just to find out who your GP is.  We request that you ask the Patient Services Team when you next contact the surgery.

We would like to thank Dr Wielink’s patients for their understanding during this period.

Extended Opening Hours - 1 October 2018

As of 1 October 2018 Wallingbrook Health Group will be extending their opening hours .

Chulmleigh Reception will now open from 8.00am to 6.30pm, the telephone lines will be open from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

Chulmleigh Dispensary will be open from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

*Please note: Chulmleigh Dispensary will be closed on the 3rd Monday of each month between 1.00pm and 2.00pm for staff training.

Winkleigh Surgery opening hours remain as 8.30am to 1.00pm, 2.00pm to 6.00pm

Dispensing / Repeat Prescriptions

The practice dispenses medicine for all patients registered at Wallingbrook.

If you are taking regular medication the doctor will place these items on repeat, allowing you to re-order them when required.

Monthly Ordering System

To re-order your repeat medication we recommend you use our monthly ordering facility.

It is very simple to use. On picking up your monthly repeat simply reorder all you will require for the following month, we will then arrange a collection date (usually in 28 days' time) and provide you with a reminder card. Your medication will be ready to be collected on the date stated on the card at your preferred collection point. There is no need to contact us in advance to check.

Alternatively, you may either hand in your repeat slip at either surgery; place an order through our website (you must be registered for this service, see below for details) or place an order using our repeat prescription line. The medication will be sent to your preferred collection point.

Paper Prescriptions

These are the green prescription sheets which do not include the medication and can be taken elsewhere for collection.

Please allow two full working days for paper prescriptions to be processed and remember to take to your choice of Pharmacy. 

Remote Delivery of Medicines

Medicines can also be collected from Dolton Post Office. Deliveries are made on Tuesdays and Thursdays so please allow a working week when ordering medication to be collected at these points.

Please note: items requiring refrigeration cannot be collected from post offices.

Remote delivery of medicines is governed by the Medicines Act 1968 and is only recommended for patients who are housebound or have difficulty in travelling to the main dispensary. All remote deliveries will need to be signed for on collection to ensure that we comply with the regulation.

Please note that when medicines leave any of the surgery’s premises and handed over to a third party, we have no further control over its destiny.

Hospital Prescriptions

If you have been given medication as a result of a hospital visit, whether as an outpatient or as a result of a stay, please bring letters detailing any addition to or change to medication to the surgery as soon as possible. In order for the GP to add this to your record and notify the dispensary we will need to allow a minimum of 10 working days before the medication can be re-ordered.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and review date should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Obtaining Urgent Medication Outside Surgery Hours

If you urgently require medication when the surgery is closed, please call 111 for advice.  Alternatively you may be able to request this medicine from a pharmacy in an emergency, subject to certain conditions.  Click here to see Devon Pharmacy Opening times.
