Wallingbrook - Patient Participation Group

Dated: 28-Feb-12

Patient Participation Groups offer a way for local people to get actively involved in the planning of new health services and the development of existing services. Patient Participation Groups give patients, GP’s and practice staff an opportunity to meet; to exchange ideas and information; and then to take action.

The new changes to the NHS will be big on the agenda in the future so if you are interested in what the new NHS will look like, or just want to find out more about the practice and recommend how the service can be improved.

The Wallingbrook Patient Participation Group meets on a monthly basis to talk about health issues of local concern or interest. The meetings can be just for patients or can include the GP’s and practice staff.

The aims of the group are:

  • to provide feedback on patients needs, concerns and interests
  • to challenge the Practice constructively whenever necessary
  • to represent patients' opinions, good or otherwise, to the Practice, and help the patients to understand the Practice's viewpoint
  • to undertake projects or reviews to enhance the performance and perception of the Practice in the community
  • to ensure a consultation process is built into new initiatives or change, so there is a reasonable time for genuine feedback from the PPG and community prior to implementation.

What the PPG is NOT about

We will not deal with personal medical issues or individual patient complaints as there is already a well established procedure to deal with these.

What does it involve?

Primarily we do ask that members attend a PPG meeting held at the surgery (always in the evening) approximately every month. (alternatively you may wish to join our virtual group).

This is to discuss issues affecting the Practice, and helping the surgery to deliver the best service it can. Ultimately, helping patients to get the best out of their doctor And, just as importantly the doctors to get the best out of their patients.

Who can become a member?

Generally anyone who is a patient within the Practice can become a member. However, the Practice does have a right to refuse an individual if it considers it is in the best interest of the individual or the Practice.

What to do next...

We would appreciate your input so come and join us by either:
